Karan Acoustics is a well-known brand in the world of high-end audio equipment. One of their distinguishing features is an innovative approach to Class A amplifiers. With a focus on analog design and the use of the highest-grade, custom-made components, their amplifiers deliver unparalleled audio fidelity.
We were invited by Mr. Milan Karan to help them redesign the company’s flagship model along with its entire product line. At that time, their amplifiers had maintained the same design for over two decades and were in need of an upgrade.
Since the product lineup was well-established and recognized in markets worldwide, one of our primary tasks was to preserve the brand’s visual identity and recognizability.
The flagship power amplifiers are large, heavy, and constructed from solid aluminum, typically positioned on the floor. Our design approach aimed to achieve simplicity in the overall form, complemented by elegant lines to create a strong, monolithic appearance. Additionally, we proposed a unique technical solution: abandoning the conventional heat sink ribs in favor of internal air channels for heat dissipation. This innovation further enhanced the monolithic design and aesthetic.
Faced with many technical constraints, we paid special attention to details such as joints, material selection, and surface finishes. Our involvement spanned all stages of development over nearly three years, ensuring the design was maintained at the high level during the process.
